The marathon race of Saami Ski Race requires that skiers are fit and respect the wilderness conditions. This race is for you if you are not afraid of challenges and want to exceed your limits.
During the long wilderness stretch you can ski in the company of others or by yourself, concentrating on your own thoughts. You have to be prepared for the demanding fell conditions because the track is located far away from houses, in the middle of the wilderness.
You will cross the border between Finland and Norway. Three best women and men skiers will be given a prize.
SKIING STYLE
The skiing style is free. It is possible to ski classic style on a groomed track.

START
On Saturday 28.3.2019 at 9:00 Finnish time. Starting area is situated in the School Centre of Hetta, Puistomäentie 2 , 99400 Enontekiö. You should be there early enough.
RACE OFFICE
The race office is located in the sportshall of the Hetta School Centre. It is open on Friday 16:00-21:00 and on Saturday 7:00-9:00. (Finnish time)
SKIING ROUTE
90 km skiing route goes from Hetta via Näkkälä village to the border between Finland and Norway and from there via Sitsajärvi crossing to Kautokeino finish area. Finish area is situated at the Kautokeino sportshall, Báktehárji, Báktevárri 5, 9520 Kautokeino.
SERVICE STOPS
Along the trail there is 8 service stops. Distance between them is about 10 km.
PRIZE CEREMONY
Prize giving ceremony will take place in Kautokeino finish area 14:00 – 15:00 Norwegian time.
BUS TIMETABLES
In the morning there is a bus going from Norway /Kautokeino to Hetta start area. The bus is leaving at 5:45 Norwegian time. A bus ticket costs 17 € and it should be paid in advance online.
In the evening there will be several buses going from Kautokeino to Hetta. The more accurate timetable of these buses will be informed later. Bus tickets are 17 € and they should be paid online.
TRANSPORT OF EQUIPMENTS
In the Hetta village skiers can leave their equipment in a bus which transports equipment to Kautokeino finish line. Equipment will be put into a bag marked with participant’s name.
